Atlantic.Net was a proud sponsor of the second CFITS Happy Hour on October 22, 2009 at Ember Social Tavern. This month’s social event had a wonderful turnout with more than 45 industry professionals in attendance and was a wonderful opportunity to network and enjoy the company of those whose interests in developing relationships within our industry align with those of Atlantic.Net’s. All areas of the Central Florida IT industry were represented at this month’s event in addition to current and future partners.
I had the pleasure of meeting Celeste Villalobos of CEP Logic, one of Atlantic.Net’s newest partners. I had interesting discussions with Celeste and I am glad to have known her company that employs some of the best IT Security and Compliance experts in the world.
Celeste and I spoke about Ethical Hacking, one of her specialties. For those of you who don’t know what ethical hacking is, it is a computer network expert(s), such as Celeste and her colleagues, who attack a security system on behalf of its owners, looking for vulnerabilities and weakness that a malicious hacker could exploit. Ethical Hacking is also known as penetration testing and intrusion testing. I never knew hacking could be ethical! It was encouraging to meet a female programmer in the sea of male IT professionals.
Also in attendance were Mr. Gerald Tozin from Vectus Media LLC, Mr. Jeff Thomas from Optimus Solutions, Mr. John Principato as well as Mr. Burt Williams from Amitis Inc., just to name a few.
Atlantic.Net also kicked off our thinktank Server Club project, headed by our very own Jaima-Lynn Walker, at this event. Several CFITS members have already taken advantage of our free test offer. We look forward to hearing your thoughts on these servers after you familiarize yourselves with them.
Of course we would like to thank CFITS and Ember Social Tavern for putting on this lovely Happy Hour event. We look forward to seeing you all at next month’s event!
