Atlantic.Net Sponsors Orlando’s 3rd Annual Walk-For-Wishes

I would like to thank our staff and our local community who pulled together to help support the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s 3rd annual “Walk-For- Wishes” at Lake Eola in Orlando Florida.

I woke up thinking that the weather was going to ruin this event, but I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful, usually unpredictable, Florida weather which contributed to a fantastic evening walk!  Attendance for this event far surpassed my expectations and this truly was a fun-filled event!  There were food, fun, games, and giveaways!  The best surprise of all was a special appearance by the Orlando Predator cheerleaders who got the crowd involved in an impromptu show of football skills, something I couldn’t do in heels!  Before the walk, 98.9 WMMO played the best hits of yesterday and today, and a tough competition of “Corn Hole” ensued!  I am sure some of the folks took advantage of the FREE 10 minute massages by another sponsor!

There were half a dozen corporate sponsors, ranging from local educational institutes to wellness facilities, who were given booths to show their support.  Atlantic.Net took over a corner booth (with a great view of the Predator Cheerleaders — I’m sure our tech guys appreciated that one!).  While the guys were busy flirting with the cheerleaders, I was passing out candy to the kids and apologizing to the parents for the sugar rush that was about to follow!  It felt so good to be in a fun, happy environment seeing the community come together to bring much-needed smiles to the children and families.

The Atlantic.Net-izens raced around Lake Eola with pride (and a sugar rush), taking note of the many groups who banned together for one great cause, walking for wishes.  With in-kind donations from local companies and individual donations, this event was a huge success.  The Make-A-Wish Foundation was able to raise over $29,000.00, enabling them to grant many more wishes for children and families affected by terminal illnesses.  The Make-A-Wish Foundation has touched the lives of so many families in our community, allowing them to forget about the doctors’ offices, treatments, and illness, even if for just one day.  Atlantic.Net is proud to have been a part of such a meaningful organization and we know our contributions are going towards a wonderful cause.
