The Buzz on Partnerships in 2010 – How Integrators Can Increase ROI with Managed Server Hosting

Monday, January 18th, 2010 by kristina-davis

We were recently interviewed by the Redmond Magazine .  This publication has a captured an audience of IT consultants, service providers, and Microsoft Certified Partners, many of which cater to small and mid-size business clients.  They wanted to know what advice and strategies we could offer to the integrators in this complicated economic climate.  They also wanted to understand about the new pricing model for IT provider’s and their products and services.  In addition they asked if the bundling of newer products might be a good marketing strategy for 2010.  Please read the entire article published by the Redmond Magazine .

I thought it would be beneficial to share our point of view with our Channel Partners and our readers!  The economy of 2010 is not the same as that of the previous 15-20 years, which was mostly fueled by technology and real-estate bubbles.  Many businesses were thriving, not because they created value, but rather because they had been at the right place at the right time.  In the “new world economy”, that is simply not the case anymore.  Prosperity in 2010 and in the coming years is going to require the creation of new product sets with a solid value proposition.  Every decision is going to have to make perfect sense.  With businesses looking to cut costs and reduce the bottom line, IT advancements and development have become essential in enable businesses to cut their IT budget while remaining profitable.  This is in stark contrast to the last 20 years, when the business community invested in IT just to keep up with their growth. Next Growth Markets to Benefit from Data Center Services – India, China and Brazil

Monday, January 4th, 2010 by Adnan Raja

As the balance of power is slowly shifting to emerging markets, countries like India, China, and Brazil may experience more sustainable growth in the coming years than the United States of America may.  While the US economy witnessed growth largely fueled by the technology bubble, credit bubble and debt accumulating up to $13 trillion, emerging markets have been steadily climbing and their GDP data presents some hard evidence.  India more than doubled its GDP in the last five years and China and Brazil are also experiencing rapid growth.

The chart at the following link  indicates that GDP in the United States is largely fueled by debt for the last two decades: http://market-ticker.denninger.net/uploads/Dec2009/Absolute-Debt-GDP-9-09.png

The table at the following link represents the GDP in the growing economies courtesy of Trading Economics: http://www.tradingeconomics.com/

A comparison  derived by a Google chart compares GDP growth in Indian, China, Brazil, and the United States. Which I find very interesting. View the comparison chart here .

All economic indicators despite global economic meltdown point to a greater need for IT enabled services in the emerging markets.  Catering to this huge demand is virtually impossible if the service providers continue to focus on the traditional growth markets and downplay the emerging markets.  This economic and technical growth yields a large opportunity for the data center service providers to benefit from development overseas. Can A Data Center Be A Hundred Percent Green?

Monday, November 16th, 2009 by kristina-davis

The term “green data center ” can be attributed to data centers that are extremely energy efficient and environmentally friendly. This means that green data centers should be maintained by monitoring their electrical, mechanical, electronic, and computer systems to reducing power consumption and to lessen the ecological impact. Turning a data center completely green is not as far-fetched today as it was several years ago, but it is not something that can be achieved easily. Creating a greener data center environment can be costly, difficult, and time consuming. Most existing data center facilities are taking initiatives towards greener practices by restructuring the way they utilize their power and run their power dependent infrastructure. While newly built data centers are being constructed with their environmental impact in mind, various data center operators are also taking steps to become more environmentally responsible. (more…)

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009 by Adnan Raja

As the 2009 hurricane season draws to a close we can all let out a huge sigh of relief. For some, that sigh will be larger than others if they weren’t prepared.  Atlantic.Net is always ready to weather the storm and we take pride that we are constantly thinking into the future.  Some of our preparations for this hurricane season included putting a new roof on our building, performing an entire overhaul of our industrial grade UPS-complete with new components, and performing preventative maintenance on our HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning).   As always, our secure, hurricane proof Data Center is staffed 24×7x365 with a back-up generator and multiple redundant connections to the Internet backbone. Outdoor Advertising Campaign

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009 by jrossiter

While I was driving toward the airport on the way to a conference, some attractive Atlantic.Net billboards caught my eye.  I must have seen five in that drive to the airport. I thought I should at least put this in the blog and share some of the pictures and concepts with our readers!

I later sat with Adnan R. who played an instrumental role in putting this campaign together and learned a great deal. We launched a small test campaign in Orlando to highlight our server capabilities. This campaign is quite different than the one from last year’s campaign to increase awareness about our Data Center.  This year’s focus is on “Fast Servers” and we wanted to communicate how we can help businesses increase their productivity with our faaaaaaaaast servers.  Here are the five different designs you may have seen around your town:

Monday, October 26th, 2009 by pconnors

Atlantic.Net was a proud sponsor of the Florida Linux Show, which was held at the Radisson Resort Orlando –Celebration, October 24, 2009. What a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Open Source Software (OSS) and its wide applications. Thanks to Florida Linux Alliance for putting together such a great event!  This year’s event was prominently sponsored by RedHat, one of the most well known distribution vendors of Linux, and of course Atlantic.Net!

There were various halls reserved for presentations and for the sponsor exhibits. Speakers from a range of organizations gave very informative presentations throughout the day.  I decided to sit in on several of the sessions focusing on virtualization along with Jon L. and others.

What is Managed Server Hosting?

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009 by Marty

(Technical Gauge at 0)

Managed server hosting is a new service that is the future of computing. Simply stated, managed server hosting puts together all the pieces needed to operate a computer server.

Instead of purchasing and setting up a server at your office, hiring additional staff to setup & manage and maintain the server, a managed server is located in our data center and managed by our staff of experts eliminating many of the costs, time, and effort associated with running a server.

Some examples of managed server hosting include:

Managed Server for Web Hosting allows companies to have a web site (www.yourcompany.com) available for their customers to interact with to order products & services, get more information, or get support for an already purchased product. (more…)
