Newer Cloud Servers with 40Gigabit Infiniband

Editorial Team October 24, 2012 by under HIPAA Data Centers 0 Comments

If you’re starting to notice a system slowdown as your busy server and cloud connections struggle to handle your ever-increasing data volume, you’re ready to upgrade. Newer cloud servers with 40Gigabit InfiniBand vs. 1GB or 10GB can take you to higher bandwidth and lower latency (Latency is another word for the noticeable lag time between server and client. Low latency is important in user interface applications as well as processing large amounts of data backup.)

Enterprise Checklist: How to Best Utilize the Cloud

Some factors to consider when deciding if cloud hosting services are a good fit for your business

1) Determine which IT activities take up the most time and money

An internal audit is the first step in transitioning to cloud services. You need to understand where your IT budget is going, but more importantly, where your IT staff feels overwhelmed. Cloud-based resources are not necessarily replacements for an internal IT team; some tasks and functions can be done more effectively by people on-site. But in many cases, tasks like server maintenance, security patching, and backup/recovery can be made part of a cloud services package and free up your IT staff to help with other tasks on-site.

Cloud Computing Risks in Comparison to Other Data Options

Cloud Security Concerns

In speaking to customers over the years, we’ve noticed that one of the most common concerns about cloud computing or IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) is the fear that transmitting your data and storing it offsite will expose you to security breaches or other risks. We should be clear: cloud computing does involve some risks. Any time you transmit or store data, there’s the chance that something will go wrong. But we believe very strongly that in comparison to other data storage options, including in-house hardware and networks, cloud computing offers the best security and ease of use. To explain this idea, we want to make two main points:

Five Quick Tips For Improving SQL Server Performance

Glenn June 22, 2010 by under VPS Hosting 0 Comments

Database servers are a cornerstone of modern businesses ranging from Google to 7-Eleven. When you run your credit card at a convenience or grocery store, your purchase is registered at a point of sale system backed by a database. Your credit card company registers the fund’s transfer into a database server containing your financial records. If you use a discount card, yet another database server comes into play. Databases enable businesses to track inventory, perform margin analysis, automate purchases, and identify customer trends—and to do all of this much more quickly and efficiently than ever before!

Electronic Medical Records Made Easy With Managed Hosting

Glenn June 1, 2010 by under HIPAA Compliant Hosting 0 Comments

The complexity of our health care system has grown over the years making it more difficult for practitioners to stay informed about their patients health histories. Electronic Medical Records will help solve this problem. This method reduces the amount of paperwork involved in the process; while at the same time increasing access to these records by making them available electronically. EMR/EHR systems enable the practitioner to view a patient’s complete health event summary, historical reports and previous treatment records. This has resulted in an enormous gain in productivity in practices staffed with multiple physicians. The advantages are also evident in regard to patients with multiple aliments and in emergency medical situations.

Atlantic.Net Sponsors Orlando’s 3rd Annual Walk-For-Wishes

Glenn March 19, 2010 by under Announcements 0 Comments

I would like to thank our staff and our local community who pulled together to help support the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s 3rd annual “Walk-For- Wishes” at Lake Eola in Orlando Florida.

I woke up thinking that the weather was going to ruin this event, but I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful, usually unpredictable, Florida weather which contributed to a fantastic evening walk!  Attendance for this event far surpassed my expectations and this truly was a fun-filled event!  There were food, fun, games, and giveaways!  The best surprise of all was a special appearance by the Orlando Predator cheerleaders who got the crowd involved in an impromptu show of football skills, something I couldn’t do in heels!  Before the walk, 98.9 WMMO played the best hits of yesterday and today, and a tough competition of “Corn Hole” ensued!  I am sure some of the folks took advantage of the FREE 10 minute massages by another sponsor!
