Migration Services

The Migration Service is a three-tier engagement (Standard, Advanced, Enterprise) that brings your workloads onto Atlantic.Net's Cloud Platform or Dedicated Server Hosting. Each tier scales the engineering depth and the work covered ‐ from defined-directory data moves up through full bare-metal restores and Physical-to-Virtual (P2V) migrations ‐ with optional Migration Success credits offsetting cost when revenue thresholds are met.

Defined-directory data migrations, cPanel migrations, Plesk migrations, and file-share migrations on Standard. Full environment migrations with engineer-led planning on Advanced. Bare-metal restores (BMR), Physical-to-Virtual (P2V) migrations, and pre-seeded cutovers on Enterprise. Source environments commonly include on-premises infrastructure, colocation, AWS, Azure, GCP, and other cloud or hosting providers.

Standard moves specific data directories using SOC engineers ‐ best for cPanel, Plesk, and file-share moves. Advanced assigns a dedicated engineer who reviews both environments, builds a custom plan, executes the move, and walks through customer sign-off. Enterprise adds the most complex work: bare-metal restores, P2V migrations, pre-seeded cutovers, and engineering teams sized to the project. The Migration Success program offsets migration cost when you bring a new environment to Atlantic.Net and meet a minimum monthly revenue (and, on the higher tiers, a 12-month commitment with Managed Services per VM). Migration credit caps scale with the tier ‐ 4 hours ($800) on Standard, 10 hours ($3,000) on Advanced, and 20 hours ($6,000) on Enterprise.

Migrations typically take 2 to 6 weeks, depending on the scope of work. Pre-planning happens Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern; migration cutover can be performed 24/7/365 to minimize impact on business hours.

Most scenarios complete with near-zero downtime. On Enterprise tier, engineers pre-seed the source environment to Atlantic.Net's Cloud, which lets us test the new environment before the cutover; only the final cutover causes a brief, planned switchover. Standard and Advanced migrations have a comparable pattern scaled to the work involved.

A bare-metal restore brings an entire server ‐ operating system, applications, configuration, and data ‐ back to a fresh physical or virtual server, without depending on the original hardware. BMR is the standard pattern for moving from on-premises servers or third-party hosts onto Atlantic.Net's infrastructure when the source cannot be reached for an in-place agent install.

A Physical-to-Virtual (P2V) migration converts a workload running on physical hardware into a virtual machine on Atlantic.Net's Cloud Platform. The OS, applications, and data move into a hypervisor-managed VM that you can scale, snapshot, replicate, and back up like any other cloud workload. P2V is included on the Enterprise tier.

Migration services that require allocation of a large timeframe are billed at $200.00 per hour for unmanaged servers and $160.00 per hour for managed servers. Atlantic.Net's sales team will scope the engagement and confirm pricing before the work begins.
