Secure Block Storage (SBS) is elastic block-storage that attaches to your Cloud Virtual Servers. You can resize volumes, detach and re-attach to a different VM, and rely on built-in replication for redundancy. SBS is typically used for application data, databases, and anything that needs to survive a server replacement or scale beyond local-disk limits.

A snapshot is a point-in-time image of a Cloud Virtual Server's local storage. You can roll a server back to a snapshot, create a brand-new server from a snapshot, or transfer a snapshot to another data center for off-site recovery. Snapshots are commonly used as quick rollback points before risky changes and as the seed for cloning environments.
