GAINESVILLE, Fla. (November 24, 1997)– Internet Connect Company, Inc. (ICC) is pleased to announce an agreement with WRRX-97.7 FM to host the radio station’s Internet Web site.

WRRX offers Gainesville and Ocala listeners the most diverse radio format in the area, playing a wide variety of music and offering exclusive local coverage of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the NBA’s Orlando Magic.

ICC Sales director James Lamb said Web hosting provides communications companies with the opportunity to broaden their exposure. WRRX joins ICC’s other media clients like the Gainesville Sun, the Florida Times-Union, the Independent Florida Alligator, and WYKS-Kiss 105.

“The Internet is becoming increasingly important in today’s business world,” Lamb said. “Companies with the foresight to keep up with emerging technologies will be better prepared for the future.”

WRRX station manager John Starr agrees that the Internet is a good marketing tool and can help WRRX get an edge on the competition.

“We believe our Web page reaches a good portion of our listeners,” Starr said. “We cater to a sophisticated audience, and that’s the type of people using the Internet.

The station’s Web site, located at http://www.wrrx97x.com, offers Web surfers the opportunity to sign up to receive a newsletter through their e-mail, chat online about sports, and link to information on local and national bands. Special online promotions are being planned to encourage listeners to visit the site.

Starr said the station is still trying to find new ways to expand its Internet presence. The station is looking into the possibility of providing live broadcasts over the Internet using RealAudio technology.

Switching the site to ICC’s network has ensured that the station will receive fast connections and good service, Starr said.
