Atlantic.net Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is the network throughput for a Cloud Server?
The network throughput to each server varies depending on which Cloud Server plan you select. The larger the Cloud Server chosen, the larger your Internet connection will be. Please refer to our cloud server pricing section for details.
Why do Windows servers cost more than Linux servers?
Most Linux cloud hosting distributions have no associated licensing cost. Microsoft charges a license fee for each Windows cloud server used.
Where can I read more about the Atlantic.Net Cloud API?
Our Cloud API is a RESTful Query interface designed to allow users to programmatically manage Atlantic.Net Cloud Hosting services. Calls are made over the Internet by sending HTTPS requests to the Atlantic.Net Cloud API Server. For more information on the API, please check Atlantic.Net’s API documentation.
What is the difference between a Cloud Server and a Dedicated Server?
Our Cloud Servers offer far greater flexibility vs. a dedicated server. Cloud servers can be created in seconds, easily scaled up, and deleted whenever you wish. You only pay for what you use with our cloud hosting solutions, and there are no long-term commitments.
What is the difference between a Cloud Server and a VPS?
Typically, a VPS is offered as a contracted service with fixed features (CPU, RAM, and hard drive). With most VPS offerings, the resources you pay for are not guaranteed and are often oversold. Atlantic.Net’s Cloud Servers allows you to pay only for what you use and easily scale from 1 GB of RAM and 1 vCPU to 64 GB of RAM and 20 vCPUs. Additionally, we not only guarantee access to the Cloud Hosting resources you are paying for when you need them, you can also burst to use additional resources when they are not in use.
Do you have a control panel where I can manage my Cloud Servers?
Absolutely! You can access the Atlantic.Net Cloud Server Control Panel at https://cloud.atlantic.net.
Do you provide console access—and if so, why might I need it?
Yes, we provide console access to all of our Linux and Windows Cloud Servers. This is an extremely useful feature if you are troubleshooting or accidentally block yourself via firewall rules from accessing your box via SSH (Linux) or terminal services (Windows) cloud hosting.
I have a suggestion—to whom do I send it?
If you have recommendations on how we can improve our Cloud Servers experience, please let us know by emailing [email protected].
